Our joint publication with Professor Kaoru Fukuzawa of Osaka University reports an in-depth workflow for the discovery of RNA-targeted small molecule compounds. This workflow combines powerful biophysical methods—BLI, ITC, and NMR—with state-of-the-art quantum computational techniques, FMO. This study supports the importance of performing orthogonal assays in RNA binding conformation and demonstrates the utility of FMO calculations in the rational design of RNA-targeted small molecule drugs.
